Further information on the Rick does not go to college

On the president's efforts to boost college attendance, Santorum said, "I understand why Barack Obama wants to send every kid to college, because of their indoctrination mills, absolutely ..
Well Rick Santorum you should have actually listened to the President's speech before you misquoted him.  But that would not have been as incendiary for the Tea Party masses.  He actually said " Not having a High School education is unacceptable and He challenged them to further their education in several ways, technical training, community college or University degree.  Is there something in that to disagree with?  I think not.  Yet when asked Santorum said he plans for his own children to go to college!  That is what is called being a hypocrite.  My respect for this man has dwindled to near nothing.  Between his calls for the end of contraceptive coverage and the end of university education he has shown himself to be a neanderthal.  Maybe I am being to harsh on the neanderthals.  Funny I heard his wife was involved and lived with outside the bonds of matrimony with an abortion doctor, before marrying Rick.  He was also the doctor who delivered her and was 30 years her senior.  When she met Rick she told her past lover that he would like Rick as he was pro choice and a humanist!  Well people change, but not always for the better.  I can respect a person's personal decisions, but never a hypocrites.

The American Dream College? Not so says Rick

The American Dream is to be able to send your child to college to better themselves with a college education. It is important in getting the right job and also a rounded education that hopefully enables them to understand the nuances of the world. Or am I dreaming? On the president's efforts to boost college attendance, Santorum said, "I understand why Barack Obama wants to send every kid to college, because of their indoctrination mills, absolutely ... The indoctrination that is going on at the university level is a harm to our country." Is this man real? In the days of Henry the VIII the discussion was if the peasants should be allowed to read the Bible or should it be reserved for only the Priests. This same thought was behind the Church hunting down the Cathars for daring to believe that they did not Priests to tell them of God's words. Evidently the war on education is still on and if Rick Santorum had his way there would be no independent university and only "Christian beliefs" would be taught. Is that not scary to think that so many people in this country are supporting him?

USF Polytech a Republican "Team Action", not my team!

I hope you are outraged about the Republican Party of Florida!  I am talking about USF Polytech.  Let's see over 80% of the students polled were against it becoming independent from USF, the faculty over 75%, the Board of Governors- against, local State Senator for Lakeland also against!  Yet the vote was overwhelming for it.  Remember Mitt's attacks against Santorum's voting against his own beliefs because he was a "team player", well this should infuriate all of us as tax payers and citizens of the state.  Where is the Tea Party indignation at the stupidity of this move?  Oh I forget it is not a Obama thing!  All of us should look at who voted for this waste of our money and move that will set back our state's university system and recognize it as a self-serving power grab by Senate Budget Chair J.D. Alexander.  I can just imagine as his political career as a State Senator ends, there is a nice ripe plum of a job as the head of this new university just waiting for him to pick. Well I am sick of politics as usual in the state of Florida and remember to well disgraced House Speaker Johnnie Byrd calling fellow Republican members of the Florida House sheep.  I say it is the Citizens of the State of Florida who are the sheep right now as long as we let these kind of stupid actions go unpunished!

Religion in the school, be careful!

There are those that think teaching religious values in the school is a great idea and the state should support it  , as long as they are their own beliefs.  Then there are others who are afraid of what happens when you open that door.  I say be careful what you wish for.  Case in point, Life Force Academy in Pinellas County has been enriching the lives of it's children with teaching from Ron Hubbard and Scientology.  I am no great fan of Scientology, but on the other hand imagine if you are a Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist or Muslim and you find yourself having your child having Christian beliefs, prayers and teachings being forced upon them and it is the education you pay for with your tax dollars.  Maybe this could be a wake up call to those that feel righteous about their religious beliefs as being "American" and have no thought about what someone from the other "side" might experience.  The outrage by the parents whose children are at Life Force is justified, but I have heard this same outrage expressed by others in other minority religions.   We need to be careful about religion in the schools as it might be your child next and it could be you finding yourself trying to protect your child from religious zealots.

War in downtown St. Petersburg?

Last night was an example of how issues develop into larger problems. Over a period of a few

months the Push Ultra Lounge has stepped up the noise late at night on their rooftop bar.

What was never a problem for most neighbors has now become a galvanizing issue for many

neighbors and the Downtown Organizations that are trying to protect this as a residential area.

What will happen is they will then find a battle where no battle need have been fought. The

owners will find new permits a bigger deal than before if they want to do other things, the City

Police which is around to protect them and all of us is now having to answer calls to get the

noise turned down. This will create friction and they should not have to do this every weekend.

All Push and others have to do is have some consideration late at night so residents after

midnight can sleep peacefully. Yet their attitude is make me. Is this not a microcosm of world

peace? So the saga continues and as they continue to pollute the quiet the armies gather. War

need not be the answer, but it is easy to march to war, harder to listen the voices of reason.

The latest attacks on our President and the Republicans led by Tancredo are they are Communists.  Oh no here we go again.  Shades of Joe McCarthy!  When you can't blast with the liberal label as it is already taken by Romney, go to PLAN B, it is those COMMUNISTS again trying to take over our country.  Supposedly 70 members of Congress from the Democratic Party are also Socialists!  GOD FORBID anyway.  I heard they are advocating digging up Stalin and bringing him to the US and running him for President.  Uh oh that will be the next post from Tom Tancredo siting sources have just said this.  I should have kept my mouth shut about our top secret plans as I must be one of them.  I said nice things about Obama and are forever tainted!  This was shared by Kevin Wright who is strongly advocating Rick Santorum and locally involved with CPAC.  Come on Kevin don't believe everything you read and don't become one of those that repeats everything whether right or wrong because someone else said it.  Let's take more responsibility for what we share.  A good honest discussion is worth having, but having sharing lies, innuendo and rumors does not make for a good exchange or make this country stronger.

OK my Right Wing Friends I have a conundrum for you.

All my ultra conservative friends I have a question for you on the rights of religion and health care.  You are upset about the health care initiative of our President mandating women's right to have contraceptive and other birth control be part of the plan for employees of a Catholic organization.  OK my Pro Life friends, the Jehovah Witness's feel the same about blood transfusions.  They want to opt out of that being mandated by the health care laws.  I am sure you have no problem with that? Right? Religious freedom from government laws should be the primary issue here.  Yet without that blood transfusion a child might die, oops.... What to do?  Pro Life or Pro Choice?  This was in Robyn Blumner's editorial in the Tampa Bay Times and it opens a huge hole in the discussion.  I look for your wisdom here my friends?  Save a life or save the rights?
